How a metro wash is sized
Capacity on a metro plant is stated as cycle time per set. It follows from how often each set must be washed, how many sets the depot holds and the turnaround window between runs. Those three figures, with the set length, decide what the plant has to do in each cycle.
The second constraint is the road. The wash occupies a length of depot track, and that length is part of the specification. Modular construction lets the stages be arranged along the length of road the depot can give.
A full set on a single pass
Metro sets bring cab ends, roof-mounted equipment, door recesses and gaps between cars. Europe Makine draws the brush and nozzle layout to the vehicle profile so that all of these are treated as the set moves through once.
The layout is also drawn to the running line already in the depot: its track geometry, its structure gauge, its clearances and its electrification. The plant is built to fit what is there.

Questions and answers
- How long does a metro train wash take per set?
- Cycle time per set is specified per project. Europe Makine sets it from your wash frequency and turnaround window and states it in the quotation.
- Will the plant fit our existing track?
- The plant is drawn to the existing running line, including track geometry, structure gauge, clearances and electrification.
- Are roof equipment and inter-car gaps washed?
- Yes. Cab ends, roof equipment, door recesses and inter-car gaps are treated on the same pass, with the brushes and nozzles laid out to the vehicle profile.
- Can staff take over from the automatic program?
- Every plant has a manual override alongside its automatic programs.
- Which details set the cycle time per set?
- The set length, the number of sets, how often each set is washed and the turnaround window at the depot.
